FAQ

Q. How much does it cost to transport my vehicle?

A. It varies depending on your locations, type of vehicle (trucks and SUVs are usually more), Call us during business hours for an immediate quote 239-514-3124 or fill out a quote form here for an online quote.

Q. What forms of payment do you accept?

A. Prior clients may pay by personal check only, otherwise we accept PAYPAL, MC or VISA with a 3% convenience fee added to ALL credit card and paypal orders, Cash, cashier’s check or money order made payable to Young’s Transport are also accepted. We do now require a deposit to reserve your spot on the transport. Remaining balance will be due to the driver at pick up or destination unless you are paying by credit card. The driver does not take credit card information. If paying by Credit Card you must provide the office your Credit Card info prior to your car being picked up.

Q. Is my deposit refundable if I have to cancel?

A. You must provide a notice of cancellation at least 7 business days prior to your first available pick up date to get a refund of your deposit. We understand last minute emergencies occur and will work with you, however we often have a waiting list and if we call to come get your car and you tell us Oh I do not need you to pick me up, those are situations where we would keep the deposit. Please allow ample time to cancel so we can fill your spot with another client’s car.

Q. Is there really such thing as door-to-door service?

A. Door-to-door service means the truck driver will get as close to your door as he can legally and safely. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. Transport trucks are 80 ft. long and weigh 80,000lbs and need lots of space to maneuver and turn around. If your home is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, low bridges (downtown Chicago) speed bumps or tight turns; the driver may ask you to meet the truck at a different location. This location could mean the Wal- Mart or Target up the road, (a safe parking lot with ample room for the truck). In most cases you WILL be required to meet the driver at a destination like this close to your home.

Q. Do I have to be present when we pick up or deliver your vehicle?

A. Yes, we request you, or a designated person, be present upon pick up of your vehicle. An inspection is performed on your vehicle and a contract bill of lading must be signed. If you are not able to be there, please contact our office at 239-514-3124 and we will be happy to help you.

Q. How far in advance should I schedule the transport of my vehicle?

A. We request that you schedule your move as soon as possible to insure that your car is moved within the time frame you prefer. However, if an immediate pick up is necessary; we will do everything possible to get you assigned to one of our carriers. Sometimes we may have to use a 3rd party carrier to help us out in this type of situation. But rest assured we ONLY use a select few carriers that we would trust OUR client’s vehicles on. We do however take reservations up to 6 months in advance and recommend you booking your car at least 4-6 weeks in advance during our high volume months of MARCH-JUNE AND SEPTEMBER-JANUARY to guarantee a spot on one of OUR trucks.

Q. Can you guarantee a pick-up or delivery date?

A. Upon your requesting a specific pick up date, Young’s Transport will make its best attempt to accommodate your needs, unlike other companies that charge a fee for this service. If the exact date you request is unavailable, Young’s Transport will work within a 2-3 day time frame of your request. If you are located in Lee or Collier counties we are available for drop off or pick up of your vehicle Mon-Fri 8-4:30 upon prior arrangements at 5401 Yahl Street off of Pine Ridge Road exit 107 off of I75. We will not guarantee a delivery date due to unexpected delays as in weather, traffic, breakdown driver illness etc… When booking your move with Young’s Transport, you will be provided with an estimated transit time that your shipment will take and we usually can provide you with YOUR DRIVER’S cell phone # and you will be able to stay in touch with him or us at the office for a better time frame while in transit.

Q. Can I pack personal belongings in my car?

A. We prefer items to be placed in the trunk ONLY, however some vehicles do not have trunks, we limit the weight added to the vehicle to 200lbs. Usually this means 2 suitcases and a set of golf clubs. Our trucks have to go through every scale in each state and therefore every pound counts and we have to be legal or we have to pay overweight fines and IN SOME STATES you have to get legal before they let you leave. We are not responsible for anything you do leave in your car.

Q. What is the difference between a “Car Carrier” and a “Broker”?

A. Most transport companies you find these days are ONLY BROKERS (middlemen) they do not own their own trucks. They rely on carriers like Young’s Transport to work for them. You are initially given a quote in an attempt to collect a deposit; after the deposit is made, the quoted price is usually SO LOW and they can’t secure a truck for that price. Your situation becomes either you pay the new inflated price or you lose your deposit. There is never a guarantee on anything they tell you because they DO NOT own trucks therefore they rely on load boards where they post your car for a huge list of carriers to see in hopes that somebody will want to ship your car and call the broker. In many cases the brokers charge such a small amount and many times KEEP much more than they should and therefore MOST REPUTABLE CARRIERS such as Young’s Transport will not consider moving a vehicle at that low price. Brokers can quote low prices because they do not have drivers to pay, fuel to buy, truck and insurance payments etc. Many of them run their business out of their homes. BEWARE OF THE CHEAP PRICES!! The lowest price is not always the Best SERVICE. On the other hand, we own our trucks and guarantee our quotes unless fuel increases overnight by at least .15 per gallon. In addition, you can call your driver directly and get “REAL-TIME” location of your vehicle. We give you piece of mind.

Q. How do I know if the company I am looking at is a carrier or just a broker?

A. The #1 way to find out is to look for or ask them for a DOT # (Dept. Of Transportation), brokers do not have a DOT #, Young’s Transport’s DOT # is 712741. Also ask if they are bonded. This usually means they are a broker. You can also ALWAYS ask for an insurance certificate, this will have a list of their trucks on it. Allot of companies will be untruthful and tell you they have hundreds of trucks when they do not have one. They just have access to hundreds of trucks. And you have to hope that the company they give your car to is insured and a reputable company. Please Be Careful!

Q. Is my vehicle insured during transport?

A. Absolutely, Young’s Transport carries a $100,000.000 policy with no deductible to you. In the event of carrier neglect or an accident we would fully take care of this. The only time your insurance would take over is an “act of god” i.e. hurricane, tornado etc. However we DO NOT insure your household goods left in your car. Any items left in the car are at your own risk.

Q. Is There Such A Thing As Paying Extra For a Lower Insurance Deductible?

A. NO WAY! The client will always have a ZERO DEDUCTIBLE during transport, with no additional cost. You should never have to pay to decrease a deductible because the carrier pays the deductible in the case of a claim. Do not be fooled into paying an extra fee for what you are entitled to. BEWARE of any company suggesting this. Again these companies are usually BROKERS who do not have insurance themselves and rely on the carrier in hopes that they have insurance. Insurance is required by the auto carrier by LAW, no insurance no running legally.
