Collier County: ‘It has probably been a record-setting season’
Easter Sunday fell eight days earlier than last year. Businesses that cater to the seasonal crowd don’t expect a migration out of town this week just because Easter happens to fall on the earlier date.
They expect a gradual exodus, with most people leaving near the end of April.
“The week after Easter is my slowest week of the month in terms of the amount of cars I have scheduled right now,” said Dana Miller, owner of Young’s Transport, which ships seasonal residents’ cars back up North.
She said reservations this week don’t indicate an exodus out of town.
“The busiest two weeks now, schedule-wise, is the last week in April and first week in May,” she said.
She said for whatever reason, people seem to be heading back North later this year.
